The cure for terrorism? A middle class. Jobs. Affluence. Hope. A shift from the current sense of entitlement from the nanny-government to a sense of opportunity, responsibility, and ambition.

Perhaps.... but what is to be said of the relative affluence of the many of the major actors in AQ? Mohammad Atta was from an affluent family. Zawahiri is an
Egyptian doctor and OBL's bankroll is well publicized.
The idea of social inequality as it relates to global conflict is out of place in this right. It was definitely a major player in the Palestinian attacks of the 70's and 80's. This, I would argue is more of a nationalist issue. Nationalist terrorism has all but disappeared in our world.
Islamic fundamentalism is based on a "new" brand of violence and conflict. It unfortunately has little to do with what we value. It instead wishes to establish a completely different world--one that I believe to be completely unacceptable to most the world. You cannot negotiate with someone who does not desire what you have.
